The doggies have been behaving pretty well, so we thought we'd try an experiment last night. We brought the nice, new doggie beds I bought for them on Valentine's day that they love so much into our bedroom, closed the door and left the cage open. Anna slowly crept from the cage, found her bed, curled up contentedly and went to sleep. The experiment was aborted after the fourth time Lizzy leapt onto the bed, scambled over me and tried to settle in between Jason and I at about knee level. Apparently the "no dogs on the bed" rule hasn't really sunk in with her yet.

I'm also sick. Sore throat, sneezing, and I am a snot machine. Have been for a few days now. Probably picked it up from the guy I got a ride to the event on the weekend with. I just hope I don't get it as bad as him (his throat was all swollen).

Final bit of news, we admited defeat after the third consecutive month of stupidly high cell phone bills. I signed us up for a land line through Primus. It will only cost $12 a month, and we'll switch all our friends' calls over to that. I'm still keeping the cell for calling my mum, road trips and the like. We get the stuff in a week and I'll post a new number then.

Doggie beds

This report made me grin. It reminded me of the fact that I bought several cat beds (some time ago) to cure them of their meddling & tiresome bedroom fixations. They adored the new beds - but still tried to sneek into the bedroom. Always. I think there's no cure. In all the pet books I've read, it says you need to make them get used to their own beds when they are very young. Guess I was just too late :(
well, good luck!

Is the phone nightmare still not over?

They're fine in their dog box. They understand that is what the humans intend to be their home. They have no problem napping in it during the day. But given the choice... yeah, the people bed is way comfier. Mostly they just feel snuggly and want to be with us I think. And there is the allure of the forbidden of course. I guess we just have to continue to lock them in their cage. Probably for the best as I'm sure they'd just eat all the woodwork and the things stored inder the bed anyway.

As for the phone, the forwarding stopped. The major expense last month was my shopping buddy and I gossiping and making arrangements when my friend was in the hospital. And as my ability to talk for a long time hasn't decreased, neither will the phone bill this month. I was able to keep it down when I was at work as I simply didn't need to use it except on evenings and weekends. As long as I am at home, it is clear that we'll need a "real" phone.

Yeah, work, you know, that thing I used to do that kept me from being on the phone all day gabbing with friends ;)

Yeah, still no real end in sight for my joblessness.

It will work out - if I can be re-employed after 4+ years - you will be too!
