During the parade of nations the American coverage managed to miss an entire nation because it happened to fall between the US and Canada. They spent too much time yapping on about their own athletes and then had to switch to Canada when they started coming in and the crowd drowned out the blathering about the Americans. "Uzbekistan just snuck in there" they said. I suspect they came in flag waving just like any other nation, you just chose to totally ignore and disrespect them. Not cool y'all.

They're also missing out on giving credit to many of the performers. They overlooked Lorena McKennit's contribution. Though to be fair I'm not sure if she was there or if it was just a recording. No comment on Joni Mitchell either. Again not sure if it's just a recording. That said, Ashley MacIsaac was DEFINITELY there in person and no mention was made to identify that fiddler.

In other news, Nellie Furtado had some kick-ass heels!

I didn't hear CTV mention Lorena McKennit's or Joni Mitchell's contribution either (they were both recordings). Maybe they figured we just automatically knew :). I also didn't hear them mention that DSquared designed the costumes until I saw them interviewed this morning. I thought that was super cool. However, Ashely MacIsaac was definitely mentioned, although I was surprised they didn't ask Natalie McMaster to do the fiddling. I Nelly Furtado's heels were crazy! Between that and the tight dress I kept waiting for her to fall over! Thank goodness for Brian Adams there to hold her up. LOL

At least with CTV's coverage, they did a brief showing of which countries came in during commercials so we could still see them come in (I love to see what each country has). I also liked that they mentioned what Indo-Canadians did for the Indian team- if you didn't know, apparently India's team gets next to no money and had mismatched uniforms, so the local communities donated and made new uniforms plus there was extra money to help with training and spending money!

I wish Nelly Furtado and Bryan Adams had actually practiced the routine though- there were at least two times when one of them either missed putting the microphone up to 'sing' or started to 'sing' too early, and it wasn't just a word or two, sigh. I could have done without the version of the National Anthem they did- it sounded like watered down elevator music, ugh! (the Olympic anthem wasn't great either in my opinion, but I hate vibrato and am not a great fan of sopranos). That's neat about the designers- I'm not sure CTV mentioned it either, though they did at least say that it was Ashley MacIsaac fiddling.
