Men and shopping

So Friday night I'm cleaning like a madwoman, trying to make the place look decent for my guests, and I find I am missing a few things. I send Jason to Wal-Mart with the following list:

- 2 2000 flushes/lever 2000/whatever bleach toilet puck things
- 2 4-litre jugs of skim milk
- 1 jar mango chutney

AN HOUR later he comes back. Keep in mind that Wal-Mart is a mere 5 minutes down the road. This is what he brought with him

- 2 2000 flushes in BLUE, not bleach
- 2 4-litre jugs of 2% - yech
- 1 jar mango chutney

How, with a list, does a man come back with 2 out of three things wrong? Men are sooo not shoppers. I wanted bleach to try to clean the toilets a bit better, but he wants blue toilet water - laugh, fine. However, now I'm sitting here having to drink crappy 2% milk. I HATE 2%, like really, really, really. And I've only made it through one jug - sigh.

He also brought Tide, which we didn't need. Men.

Men don't shop well - only faster than females. Sometimes ... well, at least he got the chutney. How many guests are you expecting?

Were, two, this was last weekend. The guest room is all un-made and the hide-a-bed back in the closet already. But the damn 2% milk lingers on.

Yeah, this milk must suck :( throw it out :)

Men so can shop, they just have to be properly motivated, the stars have to line up and there can be no distractions. Oh and a good written list helps too.

So either motivation or stars are to blame then? Hmmm, can I re-align the heavens?

Neither my boyfriend nor I are shoppers, thus we are big fans of written lists. Conveniently, he doesn't much care about milk type, and I don't drink milk anymore, so that avoids the big pitfall (but he can choose his own cereal).
