How much do I HATE my neighbours?

The last few weeks, Jason and I have been noticing the beagles REALLY STINK. I've been bathing them a lot more often than normal, but it was annoying having stinky doggies. The good news is: today I found out why the beagles stink; the bad news is: today I found out why the beagles stink.

The dogs started barking like mad and insisting on being let out. One of the neighbour's ill-behaved dogs is out, so I stand in the doorway waiting for things to go bad (aka to turn into a big howling session). The dogs sniff noses, Anna looks a big agitated, but so far so good. Then the neighbour dog turns around and attempts to pee on my dogs through the fence!!!! Aaargh! So, everyone has had a bath, and I even took the opportunity to clean the tub. Might as well make the best of it and have a clean bathroom too eh?

So now what? How do I stop Mr. Dominant next door from making me give my dogs a daily bath? I'm thinking I'll hit Canadian Tire and buy a cheap tarp and staple gun it to the fence. It won't be attractive, but thanks to the previous neighbours and their habit of not cleaning up after their pets, it's not like I'm in the habit of sitting out there anyway. Anyone else have any brighter suggestions?

No better suggestions, put that tarp up. Later on you could plant a climber in front of the tarp, then it would look better. Don't tell me about STINK :) I am surrounded by it. These cats. The house reeks. I clean and clean and clean, but the smell lingers. I also air and air and air, etc. My back is breaking, it is uselsess, never again 4 cats at once.

Hey, I'm not a cat person. I completely acknowledge the power of your animals to outstink mine. Heck, I figure one cat can out-stink two beagles. Greyhounds can give them a run for their money though...

And the climbing plant SEEMS like a good suggestion. Except for that little detail that the small beagle eats ALL PLANTS! Last year when we got her, it was a shrub that is supposed to be a cat repellant (what we used to keep cats out of the yard before we got the first dog) that also causes contact dermatitis. And she ate the whole thing!?!?! In two days no less. It's a wonder she isn't dead from all the junk she will eat. I'm not real inclined to cutivate a salad bar for Anna ;)

LOL! I have not heard of any dog eating shrubs before. Let's see, what else can you put in front of the tarp that's decorative and will not be eaten? A big doghouse? But I guess you have that already. Tiny evergreens? Does she like to eat evergreens, too?
Cat repellent: try pepper shrubs, cats really hate them. Then again, those might get eaten as well. Hmm ....

tarp is a good idea so would be putting up an electric fence... heh!
