Now that I've registered for Pennsic, I have to admit, I'm not 100% sure I want to go. I've just found out that all the people I camped with last time I went won't be attending, except of course for the only two people in the camp who drove me (and everyone else, which is why the rest of them chose to stay home) NUTS! So that makes 4 people for this encampment, which means no stuff, no space, and lots of close contact. Yipee.

My laurel had offered to allow me to camp with her when I was apprenticed last year. I was intrigued but let my husband make the final decision. He liked the people in our other camp, even if the location isn't ideal, but neither of us considered what if they don't come? Of course, since I left it to the last minute this year and her camp is in prime quarters, it looks like there's no space at her inn either.

Anyone on my f-list want two extra pre-reg's in their campsite for Pennsic? We're pretty easy-going, light drinkers, non-carousers. No kids and no serious cash problems, so will pay whatever camp fees are levied with little complaint. Were not overly keen on food plans since we're not actually in camp a lot of the time, so the chances that our drop-ins will co-ordinate with a meal are slim, and I'm a really crappy cook, so you don't want my help there. But we'll play along if that's the price of admission. We plan on attending from the Wednesday of land grab week to the Wednesday or Thursday of War week. Anyone have any room at their inn?

let me see what i can do with the Venshavn group; we're right next door to TNova anyway :) (can you transfer pre-reg's from one group to another after you've made them?)

That would make me happy (not that making me happy is necessarily a goal here, but I'm just saying).

And, if you had both Eve and I in the encampment, you'd have a good chance of luring Tangwystle down for fun and exciting party games. ::snicker::

And Joanna is just across from us in Wolf's Den. How could she resist you, and I and another apprentice to boot. Welcome to the swamp!

I don't know. I know I can get in and edit my license plate because I asked about that ahead of time (I hope to be in a different car). I'll surf over and check the group registration thing...

Yes it can be changed. But I believe it can only be changed until the 1st. Or rather I might be able to change after that but I can't be sure. Best to assume a June 1 deadline.

There is always the An Tir Royal encampment - great location and very easy going. Melwyn who is the land agent last year is good people.

That's where I plan to be if I go!

Hmmm, you're still just an "if" right? I think I'd like best to camp with at least some people I know rather than an entire camp of strangers. Though I'd have jumped at your offer ahead of *those two* in Trino in a heartbeat if no others presented themselves.

If I can perform miracles in the next two weeks, that if could be transformed to a yes.

a - I will only go if I have my own money to pay for the trip
b - for a to happen, progress has to be made on my masters

I plan on flying in - haven't decided if I'd go via Ontario and then hitch a ride with someone? Or fly in directly to Pittsburgh and then try to coordinate something from there to get on site. I obviously would be packing light... Har Har...

It's a pretty big carrot to get on with this dontcha think?

And I'm getting all SCA excited as I'm about to finish a piece of garb for me! (the last one I made was for Pennsic 2 years ago)... I guess being sick for a week can be productive (hand sewing.. blech)

I held out a new car for myself as a carrot for finishing the audit course. Assignments done: 0 of 3; new cars purchased: 0. Obviously carrots don't do it for me.

I'd offer you a lift from Ontario, but my guess is you won't have the same odd schedule as us. You'll probably stand a better chance of getting there from the US destination, but ask around before committing.

How long are you going for? I was planning from the Thurs of the first week to the following Saturday. But really I'm flexible. I'm not planning on fighting . Maybe for the rapier woods battle. I so love that one...

We were going to leave for Pennsic from London on Wednesday morning and head back either Wednesday or Thursday (we have to drive home and I don't know if we'll be starting work Monday or Tuesday, no time off approved yet).

I can't say yes until I a) talk to my husband and b) get that new car. Honestly, you don't want to travel in the back of the Cavalier.

It can't be worse than the Tercel... I imagine I'd be taking the place of the dogs!

Yup. In theory, if I can get from here to there with two dogs and no husband, I can trade-up when I get to Ontario and make it to Pennsic with myself and two people. Same number of seatbelts and all. It's getting home with two dogs and husband that will be the challenge.

Date: 2005-05-17 10:10 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] eve-the-just.livejournal.com
I can't put a roof rack on *his* car, that would make it all un-sporty. Which is why I've talked him into getting rid of his car and getting a station wagon. You had to have a second "kid" honey, well, now you have to have the "family" car. It worked remarkably well. Now I just have to get off my ass and buy it.

I can ask Ravenglass if you'd like to switch to camp with us -- so far it's Me & Dru, Kol, Naga, etc. I can't foresee any issues, let me know if you'd like me to ask the others their opinions. We've got nice land, it moves about from year to year still but is always in the same block as Enchanted Ground.

From: [identity profile] eve-the-just.livejournal.com
Mmmmm, that does sound nice, and I don't get to see nearly enough of you. Would cut-down on my evening wanderings as I seemed to find myself at the Enchanted Ground most evenings, which could be both good and bad - convenient, but will have less opportunity to stumble on spontaneous coolness.

I've sent an email to the household, and will get back to you asap. Other bonuses to our location include: already halfway up the Hill, along a paved roadway (Servant's Path), a brief downwards walk to the showerhouse (and not downstream/wind of the showerhouse!), far less slopey ground than one would expect midway up the hill (flats and some angles, but no verticals!) :)

Your camp is right across from DeTaahe, where I am not camping but my knight will be, I suspect I'll be down your way alot, I'll have to pop in. It's a good spot, grassy and not TOO shady.

Thanks for looking into this for me. Jason is being all waffly of course, but we might as well wait to confirm where we're welcome before making a decision.

The votes are -- and so are you!! If you want to be, of course. If so, simply change your prereg. to "House Revenglass", block whatever-the-heck-Enchanted-Ground-is-on-too. We will all be greatful, since the addition of you two puch us to the magic "10 preregs", and therefore will give us tonnes of extra space! Naga & Grace will be doing landgrab, but Dru & I plan to be there from the start too (2 whole weeks!!).

From: [identity profile] eve-the-just.livejournal.com
I want to give Jason all the info before I make the decision for him (let's be honest eh?)... who all is in your camp?

Naga, Grace and baby (does baby count as a pre-reg?), you and Dru, that leaves 3 or 4 others (depending on how we count baby), who are they? Inquiring minds want to know.

Also Kol & Cenedl, Ivhon, and Grace's sister. There's also a chance that Wilhelm & Christabel may be with us this year too.

There's always Ealdormere Royal, or I could ask whether Eoforwic would mind (I doubt it, last year we had several people from other groups or kingdoms). Let me know and I could ask tomorrow at the meeting (we're further up the hill than Trin too, near where Ramshaven camped last year)

Yes, please ask. And if you could find out if Wil and Kristie are coming (old high school friends of Jason's, so that would make him more comfy) as well that would be great!

They're still planning on it, though they'll have a 2 month old at that point. I'll also post to the Eoforwic e-list as well.

They'll have a what?!?!?!?! Shit, I miss out on all the news! Last I heard I think they were thinking of getting a dog or a cat or something. Nobody said nuthin' about babies.

Yep- she's due in June! The other couple in their house is also expecting, due in October. I'd hate to be there when both of the babies are irritable!

Eoforwic welcomes you- Wil just got back to me through our e-list, and at least one other member has said they'd quite like you have you both. :>
Let me know for sure if you'll be camping with us.

So Wil and Kristie are coming for sure? Hmmm.... Jason said that he would camp with them in a heartbeat, but I'm wondering if once the baby arrives and they haven't slept in a month or two if they might choose to stay home instead of making the trip...
