Well, yesterday was a nice little slice of hell. The day truly couldn't have gone worse if I'd orchestrated it as the greatest work disaster on record.

Anyway, the file is now done and off my desk. Unfortunately a day or two later than it should have been, but I can't do anything about that. Other things that were outstanding on my desk are also out of the way now. I just have a couple of personal tax files (which aren't due until April) and two corporate client files still on my desk. The corporate clients are massive and I will be here all weekend working on them, but at least I can see the top of my desk again.

The doggies were mostly good last night. Anna had a rebellious "daddy won't let me steal Lizzy's bone so I'll pee on the rug", but they were otherwise well-behaved. I also took some of my work home last night and discovered I am a whole lot more productive sitting on a couch between two beagles than at this desk at work looking out my window over downtown. Who would have guessed that I would end up being less distracted at home?

Anyway, back to these files so I can maybe take enough time off this weekend to go out to dinner with my husband on his birthday. I can't believe the holiday is falling on his birthday and I'm going to have to work. Ah well, it's not as if the weather is decent or anything. It's been snowing non-stop for days. Jason actually had to clean the walk three times yesterday! So spring had sprung, but it now seems to have run back into its hole like a frightened rabbit.

One last bit of news, the bus drivers in this city are @$$es. I barely managed to catch my bus this morning because it decided to stop only exactly long enough to let people off, this at a bus terminal, not just any old stop at the side of the road. I ran alongside her and for some unknown reason she stopped for me (the light was red, but I'm still surprised she stopped) but when I pointed out a second girl running for the door she said "sorry" and pulled ahead three feet to wait to be able to go through the intersection. So the girl was standing outside the closed doors as the bus didn't move and that was that. And that, right there, about sums up the manners, or lack thereof, of Edmonton Transit drivers. I can't wait until I make enough money to be able to afford to park downtown and not have to deal with these self-important jerks.

Bleh. I hope you have time to go out for dinner- it sucks having to work on weekends.
