I did it, I'm authorized! I have almost all my armour together (using hand-me-down body armour and a borrowed helm and gambeson) and I can legally fight at SCA events! Go me! I totally feel like a baby seal out there and I can't hold my shield up for longer than about 5 minutes. But I'll go out there this weekend, do my best and try to remember it's just for fun, I don't need to be good at this right away :)

My trainer has already gifted me with a length of rattan and his old gauntlets for the purpose. I'll be picking your brain at Pennsic. He's pushing for two-handed sword instead of spear, we'll see how that goes. I'm still thinking I'd rather have a spear. But I think I still have a length of rattan in my parent's basement I could use for that so I can try both. We'll see when I come back in August if it's still there or if I gifted it to someone during the great move.

Congrats hun. I too am in "baby seal mode". I JUST walked in the door from KW fight practice and it was awesome for me. I fought Kayla for a really long time and her and Conrad and Naga worked with me for at least an hour just getting me to try different things, it was awesome. I learned so much tonight. I finished off the night going full out (for me) with Ed and had my ass handed to me, but its good, but I know how you feel. I'm so happy for you.

Remember...you can always come home and be part of the "Bad-assed Battle Babes of Ramshaven"! YES!
