Nothing to see here folks, move along

Last week one of Jason's friends, Eric, stopped in for a visit while on business. He's a strange fellow. One night he took a bus over to a friend's place, without calling first, only to discover said friend wasn't home. So he calls Jason and asks to be picked up because of course now he's standing stranded outside in -5 with no idea of where this guy is or when he'll be coming home. And if Jason hadn't been home?... So then I'm running around, trying to make the place presentable for this unexpected guest, and I've suddenly got to put on dinner for three, not for the two I'd been planning on. Not that I was overly concerned. This was the same guy who, from all accounts, when confronted with having to do dishes while living with my husband and some others, decided to eat off the same plate all year rather than have to clean. And no, I don't mean "this is my plate, I'll clean it when I use it so I don't get held responsible for all y'all's dishes" I mean, "this is my plate and it will never touch soap". So whatever I can throw together (in terms of getting the place presentable and putting food on) is probably better than he's used to. He's gotten a little less weird over the years, but it's only a little of a lot.
Last night Todd rolled into town. That was a VERY different visit to Eric's. Jason still had to go pick him up, but it wasn't "I'm stranded in the cold please come get me" or anything. We didn't get a lot of notice, but a few days at least, and we knew the plan before we picked him up. He then took us out for a really fabulous dinner at a local restaurant, which I very deeply appreciated. I even got all dressed up and out of the house, so it was really good for me. He also didn't stay until god-knows-how-late as he was still very much on Ontario time, so he called it a night some time between 10 and 11. Which is a shame really since I was enjoying his visit. He doesn't need to be back in Ontario until Sunday and he and his father are driving back, so they may stay another day or they may not. I haven't heard yet. I should probably hit the grocery store so we have something nice to cook tonight just in case he comes over.
In other news, I called my boss today for a reference letter. That was a short and awkward phone conversation.
I also got 7 thank you notes into the mail, so my mum's friends are almost done. Still have most of mine to do and a few of hers left - sigh.
And a few minutes ago someone called for a job interview sorta. I'm not sure if it's something I'm really interested in, but there's no harm in going to an information session. It's not as if I'm doing anything else at the moment. Anyone know anything about World Financial Group (link only works in IE, not Netscape or Firefox), or about selling financial products in general? Off to do some research before tomorrow...
