It's been a month since I've written and I don't think I have read any of my friends' entries since last calendar year. There isn't any news but I feel a need to record something anyway. Then maybe I'll go change my friends filters so I'm only reading about people I actually know for a while, until life settles a bit.

Tax season has begun, so for the next three months I am expected to work the equivalent of 6 full days a week. How I do that is my business, beyond fulfilling the office-required 8:30-5 every day. So far I have tried working to midnight, which was interesting. They turn off all the lights at 9pm so I had to call and have them turned on. While I was waiting in the dark all I could think was how creepy pitch black office spaces are. It's kinda nice since being alone means I can sing along to my music, which makes me think and work better. I've also tried coming in early, which was a roaring failure as I spent most of my time suppressing the urge to vomit. Turns out my mother has this problem too. We are REALLY not morning people. This weekend it looks like I will have to put in some time at an inventory count, but not enough to make up that extra day. Still, might try going to the office at some point if I don't get motivated enough to stay late this week.

The house is looking kinda hit and miss. I am trying the flylady establish a habit thing. My first habit to try to achieve is having the kitchen cleaned every evening before enjoying couch naps or going to bed. Tonight I made a roast and the kitchen is a disaster. It's going to take a lot of motivation to tackle that one. I've been dusting regularly downstairs and keeping the bookshelves pretty and presentable. The vacuuming has been happening about once every two weeks, which while not great is also not horrible. The bathrooms are also getting done on alternate weekends, which I hope to improve. No one is running out of clothes, and there are no baskets of clean stuff waiting to be put away. I've been taking that flylady "put your laundry away before you start another load" thing seriously and it is good. I could probably have the main floor all spotless for guests in about an hour if required (I've been sewing so there are things that don't belong here like ironing boards and half-finished Fenrick pants all over the place). The upstairs is another matter, but that's what doors are for. Once tax season is over and I'm working normal hours again I might tackle my sewing room or work a bit on Jason's computer room. Until then, they're not harming anything.

The dog has also been getting more walks, which is very good since someone is getting a little tubby. We're also very seriously considering getting a second beagle to keep her company. I'll let you know if there is any progress on that front in the next little while.

The last two weekends have consisted mainly of making a plethora of pants for my Viking father. He's off to Estrella tomorrow morning, with his nice, new pants, which will be all ruined and gross by the time he returns no doubt. I'm also hoping to make a Viking coat for him for his birthday. As that is only a month away I'm not holding out much hope on getting it done, but I can try anyway. The beagle is helping me with that project. I'd like to try my hand at making bone buttons, so she's cleaning the bone for me :) And of course there's still a sewing room full of half-finished projects I owe various people. I haven't made anything new for myself since the Tudor was finished a year ago, which sucks. I'd really like a Viking apron dress so I can fit in with my new household, and as that is fairly simple I might actually be able to get that done. On the upside, the curtains are all hemmed, so my window treatments don't look sloppy, unfinished and dumb any more.

The weather has been all over the place, from -20 to +10, go figure. The two weeks above freezing really spoiled me and made me think this winter thing might actually end some day. Today, as the beagle dragged me slipping and sliding over a zillion ice patches, I was forced to remember where I live and how far away spring really is >sigh
