Back from Banff and sick
Jan. 16th, 2005 03:20 pmSo I'm back from Banff. Made lots of friends, had a pretty good time, but have to admit, day one of roommate weirdness was just the start. No idea how weird she was when I WASN'T looking (or didn't catch her weirdness). But, for example, I do know I came back from somewhere one night at 11pm or so (night out with the married girls) and she was ironing her hair. No, not with one of those flat curling irons like y'all are thinking, but with the hotel-provided clothing iron, on the bathroom counter. So much for going pee and heading to bed. So I check my e-mail and wait for her to be done. She finally finishes at quarter to 12 and says "mind if I watch TV?". My response: "Actually, I was waiting for you to be done so I can change into PJs, brush my teeth and go to bed, though you are free to watch while I do that if you want." Midnight is not overly late, but since we have to be up and working the next day and my alarm is set to 6:30, it's late enough as far as I'm concerned. So I figure I'm being reasonable. Anyway, she turns on the most vapid viewing on television (Malcolm in the Middle) and just as the show wraps up, I finish and am ready for bed and it's lights out. The next morning, she tells her version of the story over breakfast (or something) to another student at my office, so it gets back to me. Apparently *I* am the crazy roommate who insists on turning on a TV at midnight. Interesting disconnect with reality there babe.
In other news, I'm sick. It set in over the bus ride home from a day at work that I should have had off. So the weekend has basically been a write-off. I bathed the dog, Jason walked her and cleaned the floors, but other than that, nothing accomplished. Off to put in some laundry while Jason hits the grocery stores and I think I might actually cook tonight.
