Mum just went home. It's been a nice 10 days. Didn't get as much done as either of us wanted (she wanted to see my TV room clean, I was hoping for some more time out shopping and enjoying the world and maybe to make a pie or two, but I overestimated my spoons on that one). I'm hoping that I can finish the TV room cleaning over the weekend and send her a picture of the finished room at least. And of course I have garb to make this weekend. Might even try to make a simple shift for Georgia if I get around to it. Her garb is pretty low-priority though. People will expect me to wear something suitable, they won't be expecting anything from her wardrobe.

Yesterday we had our first real bath. Mum washed her hair and demonstrated the easiest way to do it for me. I did the rest of her. She smells much better now (less like bad milk spit-up and more like clean again). I was really scared about how it would go. She screamed her way through the entire sponge bath, so I had reason to be concerned. She really enjoyed the water though, so I'll be making a more regular attempt at that. Yay.

After the bath we put on the lovely new onesie that auntie Mona sent us and discovered that the new soother mum chose is pretty okay.

I'm trying not to be the kind of mother that only posts stuff about their kids, which is of little or no interest to any other adult on the planet (except maybe the grandparents, who are equally doting). We all know the type and they bore us to tears. If I start going that way, please let me know. But I will make the occasional exception, especially to show off her wearing something she was given as a gift. Bear with me on those ones :)

:) you're funny. You're going to write about the stuff in your life that takes highest priority, captures your imagination most, or has your attention at that moment.

I'm going to bet that Georgia comes up often in there :) and that's entirely okay. After all....it's YOUR journal :)

Yeah, but I want to retain some of my own identity. So many women have kids and become nothing but "mom". Part of not overwhelming people with pictures and stories of the kid is also about staying interesting and engaging as an adult with a life of my own.

I felt the same way when I was moving and needing to decide on things like paint colours and renovations, but it's tough to not post about something that pretty much takes over your life for a period of time. The fact that you're aware of that tendency is a huge thing- the ones that become 'nothing but mom' don't tend to know or care that they bore everyone to tears. :)

I'm glad you and your mom had a good visit.

She looks adorable in her little spider girl onesie (and it looks like it has room for her to grow in, yes? Yay!).. She also looks very pink, so I'm guessing that your jaundice treatments have been working beautifully. :)

I, for one, enjoy the baby posts, since it gives me insight.

I also like hearing about Georgia. I also like hearing about your other stuff too but the Georgia posts and pictures don't bore me at all!

I like baby posts, too, but then I might be a bit biased at the moment ;)
