The Canadian government has accepted Jason's application 1.1 with new, improved non-glasses-wearing photo and returned his newly renewed passport as of this morning. That means September trip home is a go, assuming I feel up to it, and assuming the baby has actually arrived by that point.

As of this morning, we're now up to 2 people in Edmonton who were due after me but have given birth already. I'm getting mighty tired of getting this sort of news as I sit here in the Texas heat, lumbering around like some enormous beached walrus. Anyway, off to the ob-gyn for yet another "you look normal" appointment.

Yay for passports!

What's your due date?

Aug 21ish. It's rather ball-parky as I have no idea when my last period was. Lost track of it in the move/mortgage closing/living in a motel fiasco.

Gotcha. Does the system down there offer early ultrasounds that might have shed light on it?

(I sometimes forget that other people aren't quite as obsessive as me.. I have my cycles tracked on my Google Calendar and on cyclespage back to mid-2007)

I have it tracked probably back to 2004 or so, but I just do it by putting marker spots on my kitchen calendar. However, when you move and the kitchen calendar gets packed, you might just miss one. And that's what happened.

And yes, according to the early ultrasound my guess was probably accurate. I do know to within a few days, but I can't for sure give the EXACT day is all. And the ultrasound isn't going to pin it down to an exact date either.

Whatever, due dates are just approximations anyway. Very few women actually give birth on their due date even when they have tracked it accurately.

:) Yeah, I tell people that November 3 is the day that the baby *won't* be born.

Given that the formula for the due date was created 200+ years ago, and recent research has suggested that there are variations between 1st and subsequent pregnancies, and that (as wikipedia points out) one recent study suggests that the EDD would be better estimated using 288 days from the LMP date (40 weeks and 8 days, or 274 days from the date of ovulation) for first pregnancies and 283 days from the LMP date (40 weeks and 3 days, or 269 days from the date of ovulation) for subsequent pregnancies, I'm figuring that if I don't go early*, the second week of november is a much better bet.

*I have this persistant feeling that I can't shake that I'm going to, but I'm pretty sure I have it because I had the suggestion planted by a friend who went a month early because of some chronic health issues that are similar to my chronic health issues. But, rationally, I know how much worth to grant to "a feeling"

Well, I arrived on my due date and my sister was a week early, so early runs in my family. But I'm figuring on time or late for me because I am not getting so much as a hint that my body is ready to do anything. Not a cramp or a contraction, not even a twinge yet. It seems perfectly fine with just lumbering along and keeping the present state as long as possible.

Might as well take advantage of the extra time (compared to everyone else I know) and get some more stuff done. Working on cloth pads for post-partum today.

I've had practice contractions already! I have no idea why our bodies do that - it's not like I haven't had years of having period cramps! So consider yourself lucky! If it makes you feel any better, I won't have my baby before you!

Right now I am at the kicking stage and when I feel that area I feel something - kinda cool, first time I can grab at something. Little feet! *squee*

Any hints on baby's position from today's appointment?

I am getting so excited for you and everyday I open up my LJ in anticipation!

Uhg, sorry you're languishing in the heat. How are you holding up? How many weeks are you at now?

38 weeks or so. Holding up okay I guess, just ready for this stage to be over is all.
