In my inbox I've been receiving "edited" comments. I need to know, how do you edit a comment after posting? Nothing is more frustrating than seeing a typo or a dead link in a comment because I've screwed it up and changing it would require deleting and sending the journal owner (and maybe the commenter to whom I am replying) an additional message so I'm always reluctant to do that.

I believe you may have to be a paid user, but there is usually a button on the comment if you can do it. It only works before someone replies to the comment, for obvious reasons, though.

after you post the comment, in the comment itself there is an option to edit it. I'm going to post now, and then go edit this comment so I can tell you what the link looks like (I can't remember if it's a graphical link or not)

Okay, I'm back. Just below your name, where the date and time stamp are, there are three graphical links. The first one is a pencil, that's the edit link.

Have fun!!

Ah hah, that explains it. I had looked for buttons and not found any, so I figured it was just me being dumb.

Hmmm.... is this reason enough to get a paid account...

aha! but when you get a notice of an edited comment - are the two comments actually different? When I get notice of such, both comments are identical for some reason.
