We broke the record high yesterday. It hit 91 degrees! In February!!! I just couldn't bring myself to stay indoors and clean, even though that's what needed doing. Instead I hit the yard and weeded. We haven't really dealt with the yard at all since we moved in, and it is really starting to show. The tiny little baby weeds that were there when we moved in have turned into a jungle. I took out one green garbage bag and 4 shopping bags full of weeds and you can't even tell I'd done anything. I'm considering just putting Round Up on the jungle and re-sodding. Meh, something to deal with after Lauren leaves.

This morning I wake up, and I expect to be sore from the crouching and crawling around weeding, but it appears I have also come down with the plague. I am all stuffed up and completely miserable and achy all over. This is going to make cleaning inside today suck massively.

I think I'll start with a warm bath. If I can loosen up the sinuses I might still get something done.

91 degrees in February. Excuse me while I sit here and fantasize about that for a while :) Sounds fabulous!

Sinus problems

Welcome to my world. Almost everyone I know here in TX has sinus problems, clogging, runny, stuffy noses and other ridiculous cold symptoms. The bad part is that these can last all year long (lots of pollen, plus the high humidity). There is not that much you can do about it, although I found using a salty water nosal spray works a bit. You can mix that yourself, too, and it's cheap. Don't get the other stuff, the decongestants, they have too many side effects (no one needs high blood pressure in this climate). They do work at first, then they become useless, so you would need more, and that's unhealthy. I was also surprised about the weather - but of course it will not last. It's getting into the 30s tonight. That's close to freezing. BTW, I also know about the weeding. It will get better once it gets warmer. Most weeds appear in the spring only.
Going back to the sinus stuff: my friend form Germany was here for about 3 hours, and he got it too: sinus headache, runny nose, and so on and so forth. At least this reaction - and your post - tell me I am not imagining this.
I also thought this might been caused caused by the carpet cleaner I used, but I doubt it.

In my case it's probably mostly the pregnancy. It makes your allergies stronger, lowers your immune system so you're more likely to get colds and the flu (and more likely to die of it if it's a bad strain), and increases your blood volume. The increased blood volume means there's more blood going to the mucous membranes, resulting in runny noses and the occasional bloody nose. This is seen in some ridiculous percentage like 80% of women. It's interesting all the shitty stuff that comes with pregnancy that no one tells you until you're actually pregnant.
