End of week one and I am exhausted, lost, and feeling pretty dumb. But the partners seem to have faith in me as I have three files on my desk (one or two of which are urgent) and they've sent me out to a client's place to prep them for a government audit.

We went out to tavern on Wednesday, had a training session on Wednesday that included free lunch (yay) and last night Jason and I were invited over to the Herald and A&S minister's place for dinner. When we left they had so many leftovers they insisted on sending some home with us, so I haven't actually had to cook for myself in days - which is REALLY nice. I can't imagine how awful I'd feel now if I'd been keeping up with the regular housework and cooking too. However, we had people out to clean the furnace and ducts on Thursday, and in order for them to be able to do that, we had to do a lot of cleaning, shuffling and furniture moving on Wednesday night, after tavern. I think I had maybe 3 or 4 hours sleep that night. Then Thursday we were having so much fun, and Jason and I don't own any watches that actually work at the moment, so we ended up staying there until late. So I think tonight it'll just be an early night and a slow, leisurely weekend.

Tasks for the weekend:
* Repair the duvet and get it back on my bed at last!
* Shorten the new pair of pants so I have more than 1 pair of pants for work
* Laundry
* Do a big chunk of this stupid correspondence course
* Do a little vacuuming, dusting and whatnot
* Get out and see some of the Edmonton Centennial Celebrations
* Shorten the living room curtains
* Do all the mending/alterations that are taking up space in my sewing room
* Work out a gambeson pattern
* Do one more piece of weaving before giving the loom back to Coryn on Thursday

And that's about the priority order for it all too. Obviously it isn't all going to get done, but I at least need to put a dent in the list.

So, about that dinner. The herald came to my place for last week's wildly unattended heraldry help session and we had an absolute blast. Later that week, he sent me an e-mail inviting Jason and I to dinner. Last night it was Jason and I, him and his wife and the Archery Marshal with his wife, the Archery Champion. Great group, common interests and wonderful conversation. She served a buffalo roast with exquisite seasonings (that has gotten even better on day two as it has marinated in its own juices in the fridge overnight - yum), a roasted vegetable medley done in balsamic vinegar (including potatoes, carrots, mushrooms, peppers, onions, all sorts of stuff really) and a salad. I have to say, I haven't eaten that well since Malta. It was marvelous. And being able to have leftovers even, just wow. And the wine they served was also quite yum. Being red, it did give me a little asthma as always, but it was well worth it. Dragging my butt out of bed for work today was nigh-impossible. Being invited to someone's house to dinner and socialize, as a married couple, without it being the standard SCA potluck made me really feel all grown up. I have to say, I'm liking this grown up thing a lot.

The other wondrous "I have a real job now - yay" thing I did this week was shop! It has been sooooo long since I've bought something for me because I wanted it. Not buying something like a mop, or more tupperware, or the pink interview shirt because I thought it would give the right impression, not really because I liked it at all, those don't count. Today, I finally let myself go and try on the skirt in Reitmans that I have been lusting after for weeks. It was every bit as good on me as I imagined it would be. I also treated myself to a pair of pants, a button-up shirt that doesn't require ironing and an a-line textured knee-length skirt. I feel so pampered, and yet, I don't feel guilty, because soon I will have the money to pay for it, and I didn't really have enough work-appropriate clothes as it is. And besides, they were all on sale for really cheap.

Also, I recall saying I'd take some pictures out my office windows and post them online for all to see. As this post is getting REALLY long and my non LJ friends and family would like to see them too, I'm just going to slap them onto a website. I'll post a link when I get around to it.

In the meantime, it's photo of the week time again, and this week, for your viewing pleasure, may I present "Sunrise: Walking out the door on the way to my third day at work"
