Finally Home!

Well, I'm home, and safe. The car has been emptied, I've brushed my teeth, I've trashed most of my spam and I have about 200-300 non-spam unread e-mails still to wade through -sigh-. As I've been awake almost 27 hours now, and was operating on less than 3 hours sleep to start with, I think that's quite enough for today. I will post pictures and thoughts on the trip later.

Abandoning LJ

Now why would I abandon my shiny new toy? I just don't mention when I go away for long periods, especially not in a public forum like this. I know I don't have my details here, but sometimes people can figure things out and leaving "my house is gonna be empty and utterly unwatched for two weeks!" messages all over just reeks of bad idea to me. I'm always stunned when I phone people and get "We're going to be out of town until x date, but leave a message and we'll get back to you when we get home" on their answering machines. Like duh.

Not that I have anything to steal of course. The dog was at the kennel, my TV is black and white and 5 inches (not kidding) my computer two years old and insured at replacement value and I own nothing else of value. Geez I suck.

I am stunned too about those types of answering machine massages - except for work phones.

My step-dad would forbid us to talk about upcoming vacations at school for the same safety reason. I totally do not do that - my experience with theft has been in-car stuff thus far.

And a burglary in a small town would be quite something.... Gosh, I don't even lock my car doors most of the time anymore.
