Best place ever for baby stuff. We went to Babies'R'Us to look at swings on Monday. Saw one we liked, but Jason balked at the price. I agreed to watch and see if it went on sale. That night I browsed on to Craigslist because you never know... and there was the swing on offer for half the price. I haggled another $10 off and got us a nice, nearly new (you seriously can't tell this thing wasn't fresh out of the box) swing for a mere $50. It's mostly wood with pretty green fabric, so not plasticy, childish looking and horribly clashing with any decor, which I appreciate. Finding baby stuff that doesn't scream "baby" the second you look at it and draw all eyes in the room the moment you enter it is challenge. Totally worth it when you find a good piece though.

As soon as we got home we popped a freshly changed and fed Georgia into it to see what she'd think. She was fascinated by the motor side of the contraption. Not sure if it was because she could hear the motor, because it was playing music, or because she always seems to look left. I figure she's a leftie like her aunt since the books are all telling me most babies tend to look right.

As a hilarious follow-up to the video and my post about "United breaks guitars", now a news story, United loses luggage.

ROFL. Oh United, how amazing that you continue to suck so utterly and completely. Epic failz!

In other news, Georgia seems not entirely sold on the swing. Sometimes it's okay, and sometimes it's OMG GET ME OUT OF THIS!!!! I'll stick with it and we'll see how it goes in the long term I guess.

In related news... anyone know how to get perfume smells out? I don't know what it is about Craigslisters, but everything I buy there that is soft reeks of scent. I'm not sure if they're Febreezing stuff before selling it or using baby oil or what, but I can't get the stink out. This goes for the padding on the swing, the high chair cover from the high chair I eventually gave up and sold and the play pen. I've had the playpen almost 6 months and it still smells faintly of whatever the shit this is. I've tried spraying it down with a garden hose and leaving it out in the summer sun for a day or two with the play pen, as well as leaving it set up in my house for a month or two... still stinks. I tried washing the high chair covers using the sanitary cycle. It can take stink out of diapers, but it cannot remove this perfume. With the swing I have tried laundering the cover and spraying the un-removable bits down with vinegar and leaving it overnight, and then followed up in the morning with a spray of vodka. I'm out of ideas. This stuff gives me asthma so I really do need to handle it.

Seriously folks, if it has this affect on me it can't possibly be good for your babies. *Wants to start a petition for removing scents from all baby products*
