Yet more good things
The morning wasn't the greatest. Georgia had her first round of vaccinations. Needles hurt. I almost cried when she screamed. I handed her the mouse and her soother and she calmed down reasonably quickly. She was kind of fussy all afternoon though. I didn't get anything done around the house as a result, but I was okay with that. They gave her a dose of Tylenol before her shots and I gave her another one before dinner just to make sure she didn't get feverish and to help the fussiness, but since that second dose she's been perfectly fine.
Last night I picked my husband up slightly early from work and we hit the Greek fast food place near his office for dinner. *Yum* spanikopita. I adore Greek fast food. I could probably eat it every day. And unlike evil North American fast food, I could probably do it guilt-free. Chicken souvlaki on a pita with a side salad is a zillion times better for you than hamburger and fries.
After dinner we raced off to see Heather Dale's concert. William arrived ridiculously early (as is his way) and had saved us seats. Wonderfully, they were off to the side so I could easily get up and pace around or sneak out of the theater entirely if Georgia made so much as a squeak. And she did have her noisy moments, though everyone at the end commented on how quiet and well behaved she was. Quiet my ass, I was just good and quick at slipping out when she did start to wail uncontrollably. Which I guess is okay for the other audience members too, just kinda crap for me. The mosquitoes were bad at the beginning of the night too, so I gave in and applied bug spray, but only to my hair and pants, nothing on my skin where I might absorb it or near where I had Georgia in her Moby Wrap tied to me. This meant I had to wear a sweatshirt to protect my arms from the airborne assault, which was a little toasty in the 80+ degree heat, but just fine when the cold front rolled in and Jason was shivering. And of course we had to shower before going to bed, even though we were very tired, because we were super-smelly.
The concert was good, and a nice test-run to see if Georgia is okay at these kinds of social affairs. I think we will make an attempt to see The Hip next week, with me out on the patio where it is a little more quiet. Assuming the bouncers let her in of course.
Having an odd lunch today. This is what happens when you're eating up leftovers...
Tortilla, fajita steak, cheese, tomatoes, so far so good. Then bunch of canned mushrooms left over from last week's pizza. Not sure how that will go, so let's see... hmmm, not as bad as I worried. Grilled peppers and onions would have been better (but we ate them all), but mushrooms and steak work okay together so it wasn't a complete loss. Here's an interesting discovery though... fajita=good, lemon Italian soda=good. fajita+lemon Italian soda=bug spray?!?! Seriously?!?! That was an unpleasant taste sensation.
