Patterned felt?
Jun. 21st, 2009 08:54 amYesterday I was out buying supplies for my latest obsession project and I came across patterned felt. All felt squares were 40% off and it was only 50 cents to begin with, so I bought it even though I have no idea what to do with it. So here I am staring at this lovely patterned felt and needing ideas.
I don't think craft felt is particularly durable or very washable, so I'm thinking baby stuff is right out. It's a pretty large-scale pattern, so I don't want to do anything really little with it. It's a bit too childish a pattern to make a purse, and I don't think a felt purse really fits with my lifestyle anyway (gets slobbered on at the dog park, carries too much stuff because of the asthma). I don't need a wallet or a change purse or a cell phone pouch, which seems to be most of the larger felt projects.
Maybe I'll turn it into a chopstick holder. I've purchased some cheap chopsticks to carry with me so I never have to use those nasty, splintery, disposable break-apart ones ever again. I was intending to make the holder out of something washable, but with the narrowness of the channel to hold the sticks, it probably wouldn't get clean anyway if you stuffed dirty chopsticks in there, so maybe I'll just plan to wrap them in a napkin to take them home. Sounds good. One doggie patterned felt chopstick holder coming up!
Anyone else have any ideas for what to do with a felt square that has a pattern printed on it? If we come up with good ideas I might go back for more of this stuff. It is REALLY cute.
