December 31, 2008 we got some good news in the morning. I did the old pee on a stick and found out that I was pregnant. Totally messed up our champagne plans for that evening, but there will be other New Years and other bottles in the future.

At this point I've told a few people. Husband, parents and sister first, followed shortly by his parents and brother. At that point I decided to stop telling people, but when the Tudor ladies got all excited about Pennsic I felt obligated to let them know I wouldn't be able to attend. Yesterday I also told the grandparents and Fenrick. I think I'll try to stop telling people again now (hence why this note is private) but with all the people I've told so far I'm pretty sure it won't stay secret for long anyway. Mum's already spilled the beans to one of her friends, and in a funny turn of events the friend had the same news that she also wasn't supposed to be sharing about her daughter, and with the exact same due date no less. Once I hit 12 weeks I'll let everyone know, but at this point that's still like 6 weeks away, so for now I'll be journaling to myself. This is the first time I've written anything for my eyes only. It's a bit strange to be posting something private to a "public" forum like the internet. Rather defeats the purpose of the whole thing.

I've also revealed my condition to the local roller derby league. I'd like to come out to their training camp for the next 3 weeks (skipping falling and hitting drills of course) and I believe full disclosure is the way to go to prevent future upset. They haven't gotten back to me yet on whether or not I will be allowed to participate, so we'll see.

I've found myself a family doctor and set up a new patient appointment for Monday. In the meantime I'm taking my folic acid and trying to eat healthier than I have been since moving to Texas. So far I've only been moderately successful on that front. Ditching the tasty, crappy, convenience food in favour of crappy carrots is hard.

Eating at all has become a bit of a challenge. The strangest things are making me ill. Turkey is #1 on the banned list. I went from happily munching away on it to wanting to throw up when I even smelled it overnight. I've felt shitty for about a week now, with no sign of it clearing up. I read an online article on what vitamins might work to alleviate the nausea and I'm about to head out to the pharmacy to pick some up.

For future refence:
Starting weight per mum's scale on Dec 31 - 142 - eeek
Starting weight per my scale Jan 4th - 139 - also pretty eek

I'm down to 136 lbs today after my bath. I guess being nauseous is a good weight loss plan.

Gah. I feel crappy, I'm tired all the time and have no energy. This sucks.
