Last night Jason and I went out to eat. Dinner was delicious and I had the best drink evah! I was feeling all happy and loosened up and I smiled wickedly at my husband and proclaimed "someone's going to get lucky tonight." He replied "really? my experience with you is that you have one drink and fall asleep." "I won't fall asleep tonight, I promise." Famous last words.

I guess this is a lesson about making promises to your spouse within earshot of your children. Georgia made absolutely sure that I kept my promise and did not sleep at all last night. In fact she decided to be extra helpful and not sleep either, and to make sure daddy stayed up to keep us company. After half an hour of jumping up and down every 2 minutes to go to her room and re-insert the soother, and maybe pick her up and walk around or feed her or whatever that was good enough to keep her calm for exactly 2 minutes we gave up and brought her into our bed. Still had to be on-call to insert the soother every 2 minutes, but at least this way we could do it lying down.

Today has been more of the same. She only slept for a few hours this morning in her Moby wrap. Other than that I've been doing nothing but pacifying a baby, or at least that is what it feels like. And yet I've eaten lunch, have 3 loads of laundry at various stages of completion, and started cleaning up the kitchen. I guess it's a good sign that I've managed to get anything at all done even if I can't remember exactly when or how I found the time to do it. I also gave Georgia a bath, but that counts as making baby happy time. It's good that she likes baths. I'm not really sure what I'd do if she didn't.

Oh, I also picked up some Bum Genius diapers for cheap (seconds from the manufacturer) and screwed around on the internet like usual. And I banished the cover from the swing outside to freshen up on the clothesline. I'll bring it in when Jason gets home and can watch Georgia for a bit and see if it smells any better. I don't have high hopes for this having fixed it, but maybe if I put it out every day for a week it might improve? I've also asked my mum to bring some volcanic rock from Lee Valley when she visits next week and we'll see if that can make a dent in it.
