Make sure your fabric is nice and soft. When I tried on my apron dress towards the end of my pregnancy all we could do was laugh. It's made out of the same fabric I made my gambeson out of (so really thick and durable) and it went out over the belly and just kept going out on the same angle, so I was a giant cone. On the other hand, my Roman, which is a one-size-fits-all sack, but drapes beautifully looked great. I had people not realize I was pregnant because I could belt it and drape it so I still looked decent.
