Oh, don't get me wrong, Canadian Tire has its flaws too. And you're right, the sales staff might as well all be 4-year-olds for how much they seem to understand. But once you know where stuff is, and not to buy anything "Mastercraft" that actually has to work (hammers and screwdrivers fine, volt meters, levels or anything electronic and/or requiring precision no) it's a fine place to shop. Mostly I liked all the free stuff I got for buying gas there.
