Business Analyst was my favourite job ever - I had to leave it to go into mining. I think doing a job you have the potential of loving is way better than the immediate money. If you choose to stay in this field, you can use this experience to get mucho dollars at the next place. Really the only time you can negotiate a salary is upon being hired. I took a student wage at the coal mine and now am reaping diamonds *heh*
Although if you move to the States you may not be able to work due to permit issues - make sure Jason's company offers support in that area.
